Baseball Recap: Ubly's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Ubly had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Marlette Red Raiders with a sharp 17-1 victory. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Brayden Franzel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Franzel was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Franzel is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Ubly let Wyatt Schumacher and Logan Johnson run wild. Schumacher got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Johnson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Volmering, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Ubly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ubly pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Marlette, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Ubly will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Raiders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
