The Creede Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Antonito. Creede was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Antonito apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Creede lost, one person who can't be blamed is Will Roden. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 48% of Creede's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lyric Stecken, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and four blocks.
Even though they lost, Creede smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Antonito to victory were Rylan Trant and Jasiah Jiron. Trant scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Jiron dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jiron has scored at least a third of Antonito's points.
