Baseball Recap: Greensburg Wins Going Away Against Franklin County

Greensburg barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates blew past the Wildcats 12-6 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Luke Hoeing tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Ethan Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Everroad, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Greensburg and bumps their season record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Greensburg has already played their next game, a 12-4 win against Columbus East on the 7th. Hopefully Franklin County paid attention to the Pirates' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
