Baseball Recap: Camden County Has No Trouble Against Gates County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Roanoke Rapids, Camden County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Gates County Red Barons as the Camden County Bruins made off with an 18-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Red Barons: they've now won five in a row.

Bradley Elias and Adam Gregory made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Elias struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Gregory pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Elias scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Gregory scored three runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Gregory a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Shawn Hoff was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Roberts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Camden County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gates County only posted an OBP of .286.

Camden County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gates County, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden County will face off against Pasquotank County at 7:00 p.m. on March 11th. The matchup will give Camden County their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Gates County, they will challenge Hertford County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Gates County is facing Hertford County at the right time seeing as Hertford County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
