It was a good run, but The Widefield Gladiators unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of Centaurus. Widefield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Centaurus apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Leading Centaurus to victory were Chance Wood and Ben Mischke. Wood rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Mischke rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Wood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Widefield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Centaurus, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Widefield will take on Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Centaurus, they will head out on the road to face off against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
