Last Tuesday, Worthington Christian strolled past the Bobcats with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Given Worthington Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Bobcats are ranked 659th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Worthington Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samuel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Worthington Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Lewis, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Patriot Prep Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 55-49 to the Hawks.
Despite their loss, Patriot Prep Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cameron Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Thomas continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Antonio Rogers was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Worthington Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Patriot Prep Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Worthington Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Patriot Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Worthington Christian strolled past the Eagles when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 62-44. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Patriot Prep Academy's Keith Prysock, Jr, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Worthington Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
