The Avalon Eagles entered their tilt with the Coolidge Yellowjackets with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Avalon took down Coolidge 43-25 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Avalon also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least a third of Avalon's points. Another player making a difference was Caty Betancourt, who scored ten points.
Avalon pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Coolidge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avalon will face off against Trinidad at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinidad comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Coolidge, they will head out on the road to square off against Milford at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
