The Huguenot Falcons fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Loudoun Valley Vikings on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Huguenot's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Duddey Edwards-Carter, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Samuel Cohen was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Huguenot's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Loudoun Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Huguenot will head out on the road to face off against Midlothian at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Loudoun Valley and Loudoun County will face off at 7:15 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Loudoun County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Loudoun Valley is ranked 163rd).
