Basketball Recap: Citrus Hill Piles Up the Points Against Vista Del Lago

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Citrus Hill's strategy against Vista del Lago on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Citrus Hill Hawks blew the Vista del Lago Ravens out of the water with an 83-41 final score. The Hawks pushed the score to 68-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Ravens had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Citrus Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alaric(AJ) Hayes, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and four steals. Hayes' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jerren White was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten blocks.

Despite the loss, Vista del Lago saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Marion Jackson went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Malik Morris, who posted eight points.

Citrus Hill moved to 13-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Vista del Lago, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Citrus Hill will be playing at home against Lakeside at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season. As for Vista del Lago, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kaiser at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kaiser will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Vista del Lago surely won't give up without a fight.
