The Regis Jesuit Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Ponderosa, posting a 85-31 victory on the road. Given Regis Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Ponderosa is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Regis Jesuit's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hana Belibi, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Belibi also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Hodges, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Regis Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Ponderosa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Regis Jesuit will take on Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Canyon is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Ponderosa, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Castle View at 7:00 p.m. Castle View is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
