Hagen Hughes Goes Supernova in Azle Win
Hagen Hughes was instrumental in extending Azle's winning streak to six on Friday. Nobody could stop Hughes as he rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Azle's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Hughes and Azle will square off against Ryan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Gavin Beard Delivers Best Effort of Season
Gavin Beard produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Aledo to the win on Friday. Beard threw for 290 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. What's more, he also racked up ten rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.
The win (which was Aledo's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Beard and Aledo will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Richland at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Derrek Vowell Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Azle got the W thanks in part to Derrek Vowell playing the best football he has all season. Vowell threw for 269 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.6% of his passes.
For the season, Vowell has thrown 15 touchdowns (and and only 2 picks) while averaging 245.7 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had six passing touchdowns.

A Season-Best Performance from Malaki Lockhart Leads Fossil Ridge over Azle
Sadly, Malaki Lockhart posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Fossil Ridge over Azle on Friday. Lockhart threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards.
Fossil Ridge is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. Lockhart will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Denton on Friday.

Azle was led to victory by Aiden Mackey, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Mackey picked up 114 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 50 yards.
This year, Mackey has caught 10 touchdowns while averaging 70.5 receiving yards per game.
