Central State Eight recap November 13, 2013
Rochester added to the longest winning streak in Central State Eight this week by beating Mater Dei, 56-28. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Rockets.
Sacred Heart-Griffin took down Glenwood 55-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gabe Green threw for 56 yards and ran for 43 yards during the win.
Rochester's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Robbie Kelley threw for 146 and 2 touchdowns and Drew Hill had 98 yards receiving. On the ground Drake Berberet contributed 197 yards. Jeremy Bivens helped Rochester's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Derek Leonard's team's dynamic duo of Kelley and Hill proved to be unstoppable against the Knights, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bivens helped Rochester's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Berberet was a passing and rushing force as the Rockets beat Mater Dei. Berberet's key target this week was Hill, who caught 5 passes for 98 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Green of the Cyclones is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,815. He has also thrown 34 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kody Wood. The Jacksonville star has 54 catches for 1,044 yards.
Sacred Heart-Griffin made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 193 from 261. The advance stemmed from a 55-7 victory over the Titans last week.
