Sadly, the Mitchell Marauders are still looking for their first win of the season after 21 matchups. They were the victim of a tough 57-36 loss at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian on Friday. Mitchell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.
Jace Velasquez was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with three steals for Colorado Springs Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Orawiec, who scored four points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Mitchell's loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-21. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.2 points per game. As for Colorado Springs Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.
Mitchell's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Sierrapresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell in Colorado (Sierra is ranked 104th, while Mitchell is ranked 322nd). As for Colorado Springs Christian, they will be playing at home against Liberty Tree Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
