Basketball Recap: Morrill Extends Winning Streak to Three

Morrill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 43-32 win over the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-35 last Friday.

Morrill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryder Green out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Osiris Saucedo, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points.

When it comes to explaining why Gordon-Rushville lost, don't look at Daniel Martins. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 to rack up 19 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Martins now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Popken, who posted six points and 13 boards.

Morrill pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Gordon-Rushville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Morrill has already played their next matchup, a 67-37 loss against Bridgeport on the 7th. As for Gordon-Rushville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-39 victory against Bayard on the 7th.
