The Goleman Gators pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Carol City on the road by a decisive 77-61 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Goleman in their matchups with Carol City: they've now lost five in a row.
Goleman's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nicholas Ewing, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Frudrias Porter who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Porter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Otero-Puriaman, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Mikaili Taylor had a dynamite game for Carol City, almost dropping a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Taylor also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Jahquori Lombrage was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Goleman has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Carol City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Goleman will head out on the road to square off against Varela at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Carol City, they will be playing at home against Coral Reef at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Coral Reef's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
