Emily Justice was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Isley, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Eastern came up short against Clinton Central on Thursday, falling 20-10.
Marly Coan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Elle Winger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.
Carroll's record now sits at 9-6. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.
Carroll's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Eastern, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Carroll continue to outrun the ball?
Carroll couldn't quite get it done against Eastern when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
