The Armstrong River Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 62-46 bruising from Plum. Armstrong was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Plum apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several River Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Valasek, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Valasek pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Riggle, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Armstrong smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Armstrong has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Plum, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-14.
Armstrong does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Plum, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Burrell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Plum is coming into the game with six straight wins at home, so Burrell is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
