The Niwot Cougars's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They blew past Fort Morgan 56-34. Niwot's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Niwot got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Carano out in front who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carano has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brighton Langenegger, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Fort Morgan still got an impressive performance from Aiden Garver, who scored 11 points.
Fort Morgan struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Niwot racked up 13 assists.
Niwot's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niwot will take on Northridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Northridge is ranked 240th, while Niwot is ranked 232nd). As for Fort Morgan, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
