The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Milford, who took down 71st ranked New Milford, 34-33.
Brookfield suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping Notre Dame Catholic. The Bobcats had been ranked 18th, but fell to 45.
Joe Pacheco was the most productive running back in Southwest this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 149 yards as New Fairfield bested Bunnell. Teammate Nick Guardi added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Andrew Tarantino put up the best numbers through the air as Newtown defeated Oxford. He finished with 14 completions for 221 yards and three touchdowns. Tarantino's favorite target this week was Dan Hebert, who caught three passes for 101 yards.
Tyler Hassett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Trojans beat the Bulldogs. He completed 18 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 95 yards. Hassett's favorite target this week was Schaffer, who caught nine passes for 174 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Brad Westmark of Brookfield is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1296. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, the Rebels' Pacheco has rushed for 1230 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas Milone. The Masuk star has 19 catches for 514 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Masuk takes on Rich Angarano's team. As it stands, the Panthers are in third, while the Bobcats are in fifth.
New Fairfield moved up to 49 from 87 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwest. Anthony Fata's team climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Masuk 54-19.
