On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Doon, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Princess Anne's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Vandergrift, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Princess Anne hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Run struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Landstown made easy work of Salem on Tuesday and carried off a 22-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
George Chevalier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Landstown let Jordan Hunt and Colin Kim run wild. Hunt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Kim went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave Hunt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Tellefsen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Landstown pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Princess Anne, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Princess Anne hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Landstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Princess Anne might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Landstown when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Cavaliers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
