Baseball Game Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. Silas Rams

Peninsula has gone a perfect 3-0 against Silas recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Seahawks will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Peninsula 2.3, Silas 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Peninsula fell victim to Gig Harbor and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tides. The defeat continues a trend for the Seahawks in their meetings with the Tides: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silas). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mount Tahoma a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.

Landon Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Max Yoder and Carter Lystra did most of the damage at the plate: Yoder went 2-for-4 with five RBI, while Lystra got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Yoder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Duke, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Silas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Silas' victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Peninsula, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6-1.

Peninsula beat Silas 6-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Do the Seahawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
