This season hasn't been kind to the Independence 76ers, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They were outmatched by Africentric Early College on the road and fell 89-29. Independence has not had much luck with Africentric Early College recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Independence's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmad Diagne, who scored ten points. The contest was Diagne's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oumar Sall, who scored five points.
Independence bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Africentric Early College, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will be home for the holidays to greet Westland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Africentric Early College will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
