Parrish Community and Palmetto are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulls will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Parrish Community had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Spoto on Friday. The Bulls blew past the Spartans 7-1. Seven seems to be a good number for the Bulls as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Daniel Norbeck tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also put up four walks, which were his first of the season.
On the hitting side, Parrish Community let Jayden Peters and Nate Whitehead run wild. Peters scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Whitehead scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, Peters posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cripe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Parrish Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spoto only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Palmetto waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Hurricanes.
Palmetto also got a great performance from Hunter Wingate as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Blake Willis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Trey James, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Parrish Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Palmetto, their record is now 6-16.
Palmetto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Parrish Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. It's a different story for Palmetto, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Parrish Community's hitters?
Parrish Community took their victory against Palmetto in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Bulls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
