Baseball Recap: Morenci Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Morenci hadn't done well against Desert Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Shane Seballos was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Morenci is 2-1 when Seballos posts two or more stolen bases, but 10-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Christopher Carbrajal, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Morenci kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Morenci's victory bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Desert Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morenci will square off against Benson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Desert Christian, they will take on St. Augustine Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
