The Trinity Lutheran Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Brown County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brown County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Trinity Lutheran, who comes in off a win.
Trinity Lutheran barely beat Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Warriors on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Grace Lance was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Baker, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. DeAnna Rothert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Trinity Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brown County came up short against Northview on Wednesday and fell 6-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost nine in a row.
Brown County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubree Denton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Denton has hit this season.
Brown County's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Trinity Lutheran, their record is now 5-12.
Trinity Lutheran couldn't quite finish off Brown County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
