Stroudsburg extended the longest winning streak in Mountain Valley this week by beating William Allen, 41-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mountaineers.
East Stroudsburg South moved up to 112 from 168 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 37-12 win over Pocono Mountain East helped the Cavaliers improve their standing.
Tyler McLaughlin and Niko Petrone gave East Stroudsburg South a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. McLaughlin threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns, while Petrone ran for 216 yards. Teammate McLaughlin added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Julius Henry was the best wideout in the league this week as the Canaries lost to Stroudsburg. Henry racked up seven receptions for 47 yards. Trent Clay helped William Allen's passing attack out by catching three balls for 38 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback McLaughlin of Ed Christian's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 695. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Pleasant Valley's Austyn Borre has rushed for 631 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Donovan McDonald. The Stroudsburg star has 16 catches for 274 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cardinals take on the Bears. As it stands, Pocono Mountain East is in fourth, while Pleasant Valley is in fifth.
Lehighton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Indian defeated Louis E. Dieruff 42-0.
