The Monarch Coyotes will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Golden Demons at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
While it was all tied up 10-10 at halftime, Monarch was not quite Silver Creek's equal in the second half on Thursday. Monarch fell just short of Silver Creek by a score of 27-24. Monarch gained 62 more yards on the day, but it was Silver Creek that made the best of use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Noah Hunziker, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Hunziker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Brody Gray was another key contributor, gaining 127 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Golden stacked a third blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Grand Junction with a sharp 49-28 win. Golden pushed the score to 42-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Grand Junction cut but never quite recovered from.
Kalin Hufford looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 291 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Trey Abrams also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.
Monarch has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Golden, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Monarch has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Golden struggles in that department as they've been even better at 169.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
