Basketball Recap: Columbia Skates Past Cahokia with Ease

Columbia won the last time they faced Cahokia and things went their way on Saturday too. The Columbia Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cahokia Comanches 77-49. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Columbia to victory were Sam Donald and Brody Landgraf. Donald posted 25 points, while Landgraf earned 20 points. That's the most points Landgraf has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was River Randall, who scored 11 points.

Despite the loss, Cahokia still got an impressive performance from Corrion Raiford, who went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and six boards. Raiford continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Armon Smith was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points.

Columbia pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Cahokia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Columbia Eagles take on the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 234 points over their last three contests. As for Cahokia, they will face off against Granite City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cahokia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.
