Paden City is on a four-game streak of home losses, Hundred a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Having just played yesterday, the Paden City Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Hundred Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Friday.
On Thursday, Paden City had to suffer through a rough 79-42 loss at the hands of Wood County Christian. While losing is never fun, Paden City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 826th, while Wood County Christian is ranked 121st).
Meanwhile, Hundred suffered their biggest loss since December 18, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Valley on the road and fell 92-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hundred in their matchups with Valley: they've now lost eight in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Colt Sandy, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds. Sandy is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Brayden Bartrug was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Paden City's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hundred, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Paden City took their win against Hundred in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 74-52. Will Paden City repeat their success, or does Hundred have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
