Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Hilo got a 25 - 11 win over Kealakehe last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Kaleo Ramos. Ramos ran for 144 yards and also punched in one touchdown. That performance landed Ramos among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between St. Louis (1st in the power rankings) and Punahou (3rd) shaped up to be more of a takedown. St. Louis blew past Punahou 45 - 21. St. Louis did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps national rankings indicated.
Movin on Up
It was onward and upward for Roosevelt this week as the team hoisted itself up four places in the power rankings -- the largest rise of the week -- after their most recent game. It took its game by a score of 28 - 18. Kaimuki had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 11 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Roosevelt.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Kahuku (4th in the power rankings) and Mililani (2nd). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. Mililani and Kahuku can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
