St. Mary lost against the Cary Academy Chargers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. St. Mary's fell 40-31 to Cary Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's in their matchups with Cary Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
St. Mary's loss came despite strong showings from Emme Seymour and Abby Sottini. Seymour scored eight points, while Sottini scored eight points.
St. Mary's has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Cary Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will square off against St. David's at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. David's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Cary Academy, Cary Academy and North Raleigh Christian Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Raleigh Christian Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
