Patapsco hasn't had much luck against Dundalk recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. Patapsco has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hereford hit Patapsco with a six-run second inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots came up short against the Bulls, falling 14-2. The Patriots' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Meanwhile, Dundalk gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Western Tech & Environmental Science as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Julie Burger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makayla Woods, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenisha Gelpi, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dundalk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Dundalk has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Patapsco, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Patapsco suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Dundalk in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
