Alexandria waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Fort Payne Wildcats. The Valley Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Pressley Slaton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Charlee Parris was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 18 games. Brenlee Sparks was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Alexandria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Payne only posted an OBP of .143.
Alexandria's victory bumped their record up to 17-4-1. As for Fort Payne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.
