Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles vs. Lexington Golden Bears

The Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Lexington Golden Bears in a tournament on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, posting a 96-13 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Genie Mcghee, who went 9 for 13 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds, and Emma Eastman, who went 10 of 17 on her way to 25 points along with six assists and three steals. Mcghee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Leslie Hames, who went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Decatur Heritage Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lexington was able to grind out a solid victory over Tanner on Saturday, taking the game 58-50. Given the Golden Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Rattlers are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win was the fifth in a row for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 23-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.6 points per game. As for Lexington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
