The Fullerton Indians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 64-56 victory over Santa Ana. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fullerton found their leader in underclassman Baylor Wilks, who shot 7-for-11 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. Wilks set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Guillen, who scored 17 points.
Loss or not, Santa Ana got some senior leadership from Jack Rivera who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and Osten Achmad who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Rivera scored a full 46.4% of Santa Ana's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Guerrero, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Fullerton pushed their record up to 6-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Santa Ana, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Fullerton will head out on the road to face off against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Katella is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Santa Ana will be home for the holidays to greet Calvary Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
