The Cordova Lancers will challenge the Rio Americano Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cordova is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Cordova and Rosemont, and Cordova kept the tradition alive. Cordova walked away with a 9-6 victory over Rosemont on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lancers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Isabella Tarpley-Cruz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, T'Lou O'Daol was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Lee, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
O'Daol wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Cordova lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Rio Americano lost 12-2 to Vista del Lago on Monday. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Rio Americano saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stella Garverick, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Rio Americano dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cordova, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Cordova's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Cordova has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Rio Americano, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cordova continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Cordova's way against Rio Americano in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Cordova made off with a 10-2 win. Will Cordova repeat their success, or does Rio Americano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
