The Clear Fork Colts will take on the Upper Sandusky Rams in a tournament on Tuesday. Clear Fork is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Clear Fork took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Northmor, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colts have posted since April 12th.
Presley Lilly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katrina Rogers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Hailly Thrush, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Upper Sandusky entered their tilt with Buckeye Central on Monday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They blew past the Bucks 12-2. Considering the Rams have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Upper Sandusky also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Ella Frombaugh gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Upper Sandusky let Madison Wengerd and Ava Saull run wild. Wengerd went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Saull got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Saull has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Upper Sandusky's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Clear Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Clear Fork hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Upper Sandusky struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
