Basketball Recap: Pine Lake Prep Takes a Loss

Pine Lake Prep lost against Lincoln Charter back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pine Lake Prep Pride took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Charter Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Pride can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Eagles are ranked 163rd).

Despite the loss, Pine Lake Prep still got an impressive performance from Avery Garrett, who posted 13 points. That's the most points Garrett has posted since back in November of 2024. Lea Schwaba was another key player, putting up seven points.

Lincoln Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Symphani Stevens, who scored 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Lincoln Charter is undefeated when Stevens posts five or more steals, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Martha Guinle, who put up eight points along with eight boards and six steals.

Pine Lake Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Lincoln Charter, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Pine Lake Prep will venture away from home to challenge Langtree Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Lake Prep is facing Langtree Charter Academy at the right time seeing as Langtree Charter Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Lincoln Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 49-47 win against Forest Hills on the 5th.
