River Valley is 10-0 against the Tigers since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The River Valley Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Galion Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Galion took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on River Valley, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 26 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact River Valley proved on Tuesday. They strolled past Ridgemont with points to spare, taking the game 53-35. Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 775th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexie Hecker, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Snyder, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Galion's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 49-17 loss at the hands of Bucyrus. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Galion in their matchups with the Redmen: they've now lost three in a row.
River Valley pushed their record up to 10-9 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Galion, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for River Valley against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 62-28 win. Does River Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
