The Clermont Northeastern Rockets had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against New Richmond by a score of 43-34 on Thursday. The victory was just what Clermont Northeastern needed coming off of a 59-31 defeat in their prior matchup.
New Richmond's loss came despite strong showings from Madison Steelman and Kiera Kirk. Steelman scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Kirk scored five points along with 16 rebounds and seven steals. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Miller, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, New Richmond were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clermont Northeastern's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for New Richmond, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Clermont Northeastern will be playing in front of their home fans against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Clermont Northeastern in Ohio (Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy is ranked 328th, while Clermont Northeastern is ranked 685th). As for New Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Western Brown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
