Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers walked away with it. They slipped by the Red Wolves 47-46 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Melbourne Central Catholic needed coming off of a 67-24 loss in their prior game.
Melbourne Central Catholic was led to victory by Tristan Hamilton and Hayden Deane. Hamilton scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Deane scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hamilton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Henry Lane was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Melbourne Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Edgewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.
Melbourne Central Catholic will square off against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at TBD on Thursday. Melbourne Central Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 598th, while Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is ranked 58th). Edgewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
