The Lake Country Christian Eagles were the 33-27 winner over the Covenant Christian Cougars when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lake Country Christian was beaten by Covenant Christian 42-14 on Friday. Lake Country Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lake Country Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Gannon Mcelroy and River Walden. Mcelroy threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns, while Walden picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Walden was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards.
Lake Country Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Trinity Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.1% over those games). As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Country Christian will take on Brazos Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covenant Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Grace Prep at 7:00 p.m.
