The Severn Run Wolves will take on Chesapeake Science Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Severn Run not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 30, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past Glen Burnie 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Gophers: they've now won three in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.
Kayla Camacho and Jazlynn Dubose were among the main playmakers for Severn Run as the former had four digs and four aces and the latter had seven digs and two assists. Kalia Brumfield also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Severn Run was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive matches.
Old Mill came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Chesapeake Science Point, but Emma Wishard wouldn't allow it. Chesapeake Science Point walked away with a 3-1 win over Old Mill on Thursday for which the team can thank Wishard, who had five digs and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
Chesapeake Science Point had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-16.
Severn Run's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Chesapeake Science Point, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Severn Run has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 13.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Chesapeake Science Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 14.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
