Even though the Centennial Stars have not done well against the Mifflin Punchers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Centennial narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mifflin 57-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Punchers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Glover, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Glover is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Bj Woody was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Centennial's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Mifflin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
