The Auburn Mountainview Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Hazen Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Auburn Mountainview had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a serious blow against Tahoma two weeks ago, falling 70-21. Auburn Mountainview was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.
Meanwhile, Hazen came up short against Lake Washington on Friday and fell 60-49. Hazen has struggled against Lake Washington recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Dakota Nap, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. She scored a full 30.6% of Hazen's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Garrett, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Auburn Mountainview's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-1. As for Hazen, they bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Auburn Mountainview didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hazen in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win. Will Auburn Mountainview repeat their success, or does Hazen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
