Steward won the last time they faced Norfolk Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Steward Spartans breezed past the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs to the tune of 65-24. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 26 points or more this season.
Steward was led to victory by Ava Johnson and Savannah Martin. Johnson dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards, while Martin went 6-for-12 en route to 20 points. That's the most points Martin has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Peterson, who put up 11 points and four steals.
Steward was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norfolk Academy only six assists.
Norfolk Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Delyannis, who scored nine points and six rebounds. Delyannis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Vivi Deans was another key player, putting up seven points.
The win (which was Steward's sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points over those games. As for Norfolk Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9.
Steward has already played their next contest, a 64-56 loss against Norfolk Christian on the 22nd. Norfolk Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
