East Burke is 0-9 against Bandys since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. East Burke will venture away from home to challenge Bandys at 6:00 p.m. East Burke has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
East Burke lost 11-5 to Maiden on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
East Burke saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyndal Morrison, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another was Hayden Lowman, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Bandys got the win against St. Stephens on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-3. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
Haven Helton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Alexander, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jessie Sipe was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Bandys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Bandys has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. East Burke's loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Burke hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Bandys struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Burke might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Bandys in their previous matchup on March 7th. Can East Burke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
