Softball Recap: Cherokee Beats Vina for Their Third Straight Win

Cherokee entered their tilt with Vina on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Red Devils 17-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Layla Gorman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. A'Kaiya Spencer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Cherokee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cherokee's record now sits at 11-15. As for Vina, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee will take on Colbert Heights in a tournament on Saturday. As for Vina, they will head out to challenge Sheffield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
