The Palisade Bulldogs will face off against the Grand Junction Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Palisade lost 3-0 to Fruita Monument on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Wildcats since August 21, 2018.
Palisade was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fruita Monument work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-16, 26-24, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Junction Central. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Warriors since Tuesday.
Grand Junction started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-22.
Despite the defeat, Grand Junction saw an underclassman step up: freshman Haleigh Blaylock had 11 assists and seven digs. Rylee Fisher also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
Grand Junction's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Palisade, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Everything went Palisade's way against Grand Junction in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as Palisade made off with a 3-0 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Tigers' Norah Gruwell, who had 23 digs and three assists.
