If the Grapeland Sandies were feeling good off their 66-36 takedown of the Latexo Tigers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Grapeland lost to Lovelady on the road by a decisive 56-41 margin on Wednesday. Grapeland has not had much luck with Lovelady recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Mikayla Woods and Aliyah Tryon certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Woods scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Tryon scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Woods is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played.
Grapeland's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Lovelady, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.
Grapeland will be playing in front of their home fans against Leon at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Leon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Grapeland in Texas (Leon is ranked 404th, while Grapeland is ranked 890th). As for Lovelady, they will head out on the road to face off against Centerville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
